Blockchain Conference: results of our annual blockchain conference in Moscow
750 guests, 30 speakers and the largest exhibition zone in Eastern Europe dedicated to cryptocurrencies and blockchain services. These are the results of the annual Blockchain Conference Russia, which was held in Moscow on April 19.
The blockchain conference was held in the capital of Russia for the fifth time. Since the first event organized by Smile-Expo, the blockchain has gone far beyond IT and became a new business ideology.
Bitcoin's capitalization is approaching $20 billion, and the number of new projects is growing daily. That is why we divided the conference into two thematic streams and organized a separate session for bankers.
Participants were represented both by celebrities of the Russian-speaking segment and experts from abroad that visited Russia for the first time.
Presentations were made by experts that were already known to our regular guests: the entrepreneur Michael Chobanian, the Work Group Leader under the State Duma of the Russian Federation Elina Sidorenko, the representative of the National Research University Higher School of Economics Marina Gurieva, the blockchain evangelists Dmitriy Starodubtsev and Konstantin Goldstein.
We are very pleased that the Founder of BitFury Valery Vavilov, engineer at Zcash Ariel Gabizon and the participant of the Hyperledger Fabric project Duncan Johnston-Watt took part in the event.
We paid special attention to the banking sector: user identification issues, transfer of routine work of bank employees to blockchain, letters of credit and related regulatory issues. Representatives of Sberbank and other banking institutions that study blockchain took part in the discussion.
One of the main ideas of the conference was that the legislation should not restrain the development of technologies. According to the Head of the parliamentary working group Elina Sidorenko, blockchain should remain outside the regulatory pressure.
Examples of blockchain practical application were presented by developers of payment services, voting and identification systems, and artificial intelligence solutions. The conference attendees learned about the project of mobile banking for people without account and prospects of this technology in emerging markets.
