Post release autumn 2016

As expected, our annual conference on cryptocurrency and blockchain - Blockchain Conference Russia, which is the largest one in Eastern Europe, took place on the 10th of November. It was attended by more than 500 people. On behalf of the organizer - the Smile-Expo company, we would like to thank all the speakers, sponsors and guests for their involvement. We’ve made Blockchain and Bitcoin more popular and closer to Russian business. In addition, for the first time we have met with the representative of the Russian State Duma and learned about lawmakers’ attitude to cryptocurrency.

This year the conference was divided into two streams – for financiers, and business experts and developments.

The stream for financiers started with the presentation of bitcoin entrepreneur and author of the first book about Bitcoin, written in Russian, Alex Fork. The floor was also taken by the Head of Research of financial technologies at NAFS Sergey Antonian; Director of Deloitte CIS Artem Tolkachev; co-founder of Konstantin Lomashuk; Marketing Director of BITKAN Daria Petrova; President of the board at ENSO Industry Anton Ryabin; co-founder of Genesis Mining Marko Kron; Chief Marketing Officer at Emercoin Stanislav Polozov.

The Head of working group on cryptocurrency turnover risk assessment at the State Duma Elina Sidorenko told about the aspects of cryptocurrencies from the regulator’s point of view. According to her, Russia has to choose the most appropriate interpretation of BTC – as a cash, substitute, financial tool or good.

A participant of the largest US conferences, financial analyst and ex-vice-president of JPMorgan Chase Tone Vays, presented his view on the prospects of Blockchain in the Russian Federation and abroad.

Sberbank representative Kirill Ivkushkin (Department of corporate architecture) revealed the opinion of the market leader regarding the use of Blockchain in banking system. Sberbank plans to use blockchain-based services for a range of internal operations and interaction with clients.

The Pro stream was also characterized by a report of the leading Technical Architect of Russian projects of IBM – Vladimir Alekseev. He told the story of blockchain developments of the company, and revealed prerequisites to the creation of the HyperLedger platform. Vladimir also provided an insight into the most interesting pilot projects, developed by the IBM developers for financial companies and non-banking sector.

Technical evangelist at Microsoft Konstantin Goldstein presented the corporation’s point of view on the scenarios of blockchain technology application in business. He told about features of Blockchain 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0, and Microsoft Blockchain as a Service.

The report of the Product Manager at BitFury Group Stepan Gershuni was dedicated to the consensus between private and public blockchains and their implementation at the country level.

The leader of the AiraLab developer team Sergey Lonshakov held a short lecture on the creation of programmable blockchain-based corporations and demonstrated several working models.

Other speakers included: founder of Ivan Tikhonov, head of Fintech division at Skolkovo Pavel Novikov, representative of Lisk in Russia Denis Smirnov, CTO at HashCoins Nikolay Pavlovsky, founder of Waves Platform Aleksandr Ivanov, as well as cyberFund developers Dmitry Starodubtsev and Valery Litvin, who presented blockchain-based social platform Golos.

Demo zone was opened for the representatives of both streams. Industry representatives presented their software and hardware: cloud mining service, company manufacturing and selling mining hardware BITMAIN WARRANTY, Bitcoin wallet with wide functionality, developer of cryptoequipment and blockchain-based services HashCoins, cryptowallet KeepKey, service provider Advapay, blockchain communication network Crypviser, service, developer of BTC debit cards Wirex, as well as distributor of Marse wallet.
